I have about $6,000 Canadian that I want to move from Canada to Japan due to the good rates these days.
I know that the fastest/easiest/cheapest way to send (by wire) FROM Japan is via Lloyds TSB (http://www.golloyds.com/). However, what is the best way to send money TO Japan?

Here in the states, I would send money from account to account.
I mean, It costs $40 to make the transfer and that's that. It goes directly to my Japanese bank account.

That's the thing... With the exchange rate the way it is, I can get a 12 pack + extra chips! That's why I want to move it back here now. ;)

Lurker I had about 14000 sent two weeks ago. My mom sent it from the Bank Of Montreal to my bank here in Japan, a dierct wire transfer. It cost $40 on her side and 1500 yen here. Maybe other banks have different charges and it might depend on how much you are sending. All she needed was the bank name branch number and address. IT was very easy and not painful at all.

Cool. Would you mind letting me know which bank you used on this end?

The name is Michinoku bank. I think it is only here in Aomori prefecture. But Lurker if they can do it then I'm sure whatever bank you deal with in Kyushu, is it, can help you out.

Thanks Canman. I'm in Kansai actually, but man I would sure appreciate some warm Kyushu weather.
I'll get the money wired over next week sometime and then let everyone know how it goes...

Have you looked into Shinseibank.com? They seem to be the best option these days...

Ditto to Mike.
I am so sick of MitsubitchUFJ and Shitibank (hey, that's how the locals pronounce it), that I am going to switch to Shinsei or Mizuho the next time.
