Opponents say that the program is commercial whaling in disguise, because after the research the whale meat is sold to wholesalers, and most of it ends up in restaurants.

Man, I just saw a kujira teishoku on the menu at a restaurant in Ginza the other day. Don't worry, I went for something else instead.

I wonder if some places sell "Kujira Ice"? That sounds like something an Iron Chef might whip up.

College students try deep fried whale meat (http://www.japantoday.com/e/?content=picture&id=367): follow-up story (picture, actually) on Japan Today.

I wasn't in Shibuya today, so I guess I missed the whale chompin' party. I've always hated the way Japanese blatantly lie about exploiting the research loophole in the international ban on whaling. Why hasn't anyone done anything to stop the whaling--or close the loophole? :x

Probly cuz it's so tasty! I was there, and got a few scraps that the hotties threw down to me. That was some GOOD eatin'! (And did I mention the "manly" side effects? Whale meat gets you 3 times as hard as Viagra! Don't even get me started about what happened when I took those two ladies up Dogenzaka.)

I love this slogan "protect and eat", as the gov't response to whaling criticism. Can anyone find me goods (t-shirts, etc) with this printed on it in English or Japanese? I work for a US enviro. group, and would like to wear it proudly in the office.
It's about as funny as the Japan employment office being called "hello work."
