That would be nice, but I would seriously be amazed if Ultra managed to make phpBB imode compatible!

Well, that's always been in the back of my head. It makes sense, considering no one in Japan uses PCs.

It could be just an offshoot of the Hot Topics box on the top page. Can imode phones display php rendered pages?

Actually, this displays in an imode emulator. It's read-only for topics, though. Let me know if it actually displays in a real phone.

Anyone care to volunteer for the project?

Any imode webmasters in the house?

(in reply to a post in another thread (http://www.fuckedgaijin.com/forums/showthread.php?t=212)...)

On my n503i. The text is wrapping too soon. Other than that, it's readable, which is much better than before.

How many characters will fit across your screen? Right now, I have it set at 20 characters, but it won't split words to fill 20 spaces. I don't think there is really any standard across different phones. I'd rather wrap earlier rather than later, so people with a narrow screen don't have to scroll right.

Does anyone else have any comments? How many romaji characters can your phones display?

Hey, I have a similar phone to cstaylor (a DoCoMo F503i). The first ten messages display ok, but like he said, the text is wrapping too soon. It wraps after the 13th character, but my screen can handle maybe up to 20 or so. For now, the links to each post and the main page work. However, when I clicked the link to an actual story within the posting, the website wouldn't display (too big for the phone to handle). I have to say, I see only a very limited need for this, because the fun of being in the forums is being able to type in replies. It takes too long to do so on a phone keypad. But I guess there's merit if you just want to read the latest postings.

Replys are sort of working now. Please test it out and let me know if works.

There's one major problem - after you press 'submit' you'll get taken to a full-sized page for a few seconds, but you should be redirected back to the thread.

Give it a try.

It should be wider now too. Let me know if it's too wide (forcing you to right scroll to read everything) or just about right.

Somebody please try posting a reply by phone. It'll be a new first for FG!

HEY FG'S, I'M WRITING FROM MY KEITAI! IT'S A FIRST FOR FG.COM! HALLELUJA!

But it didn't let me log in. And now there are too many characters on the line, so the screen shifts a couple of characters to the right as you scroll down the page.

Other than that, a simple reply works, evidenced by the above. :)

Cool. Thanks for testing that out.

I narrowed it back down again. That's what I meant about too narrow being better than too wide. Hopefully, now it should be somewhere in between.

I'm going to keep things simple for now. You can keep up with the latest posts and reply. You should be able to enter a username when you reply, but you won't be able to log in. I'm trying to keep it fast and basic, with a minimum number of options and keys to press.

I might add a basic New Post feature if more than 3 people ask for it, but most people probably aren't surfing for new FG links and stories on their phone.
