"We will raise the prices of all models ranging from the entry level to the high-end models. The range of price increases will be from about 25,000 yen to 30,000 yen." (http://www.nikkeibp.asiabiztech.com/wcs/leaf?CID=onair/asabt/cover/183123)

Three reasons underlie the price increases -- sharp rises in the prices of memory chips and LCDs, and the yen's depreciation.

Great, just when I'm in the market for a new lappy.

Since the death of the American dotbomb's, all of the larger tech companies have had to cut capital spending, tightening the market for tech equipment, resulting in fewer sales, requiring companies to raise their margins in order to survive.
