Utada had been under medical supervision after an operation, but her condition deteriorated a couple of days ago. (http://www.japantoday.com/e/?content=news&cat=1&id=214388)

Update: CNN Story (http://asia.cnn.com/2002/WORLD/asiapcf/east/05/05/japan.singer.reut/index.html)

I hope she pulls through. She's done more in her 19 years than most people could hope to accomplish in a lifetime.

Ovarian cancer is nasty stuff... she should really fly to the U.S. for therapy or something. I've heard that Japanese medicine ain't the best thing for a rapid recovery.

Update: Pop singer Hikaru Utada leaves hospital (http://www.japantoday.com/e/?content=news&cat=1&id=215230)

I'm sorry for surprising and making you worry. I am going to rest a bit until I can work properly as announced by my father and Toshiba-EMI. Now I am at home resting quietly. Don't worry!

Cool, I'm glad. She is one of my favorite J-Pop people.

In my opinion, she's the best female J-pop artist out there. Anybody go to Columbia?

I wish her the best, but she should get treatment in a different country. I've visited cleaner hospitals in Ecuador..

I think I read somewhere that last year there were more deaths from unsanitary conditions or 'mistakes' at Japanese hospitals than traffic accidents. Go in with a cold. Come out dead.

I liked Utada at the beginning, but I think she's successfully mophed into J-crap. Of course, this is my opinion. She has a wonderful voice; lame songs.

What's with that dumb ass new video? She's singing and washing the dishes.. And that's ALL she does; Pretends she knows how to wash the dishes.. It's obvious she's never washed a dish in her life. I guess she's attempting to 'connect' with the young Japanese houseslaves..

And another thing: That damn FOMA poster. Aaargh! Why the fuck do all J-poop stars have to look as dumb as possible? What's with that pointy, upper lip, slightly opened mough thing? I can just imagine the photographer: "Now look as fucking stupid as you can. No! Dumber! Point your lip out like a beak, and slightly cross your eyes... Perfect!"

(Whew.. A little rant there)

I think UA rocks! She's awesome.. Some audio samples (http://je.musicwhore.org/audio/play.php?track=1623)

More info on her. (http://je.musicwhore.org/review.php?reviewID=680)

Well, that's my 2 yen.

Yeah, definitely UA rocks. I like Kuraki Mai (http://www.giza.co.jp/mai-k/) too.

Did you ever see Bounce Ko Gals (http://wlt4.home.mindspring.com/fafr/reviews/bounce.htm)? There's some UA in there along with funky Chinese ragga (or something). I tried to get the soundtrack, but it was out of print by the time I was looking for it. I just picked up some UA CDs instead. Harada-san (http://www.haradafilms.com/) has made some good flicks.

I never really liked Utada Hikaru. She's talented yeah, but she doesn't seem to be anything exciting or unique for me...

You guys ever get into Shiina Ringo? I think she's freakin aweosme.
