I don't have any damn name cards! I'm not in Japan, and I'm not employed yet, I don't need them!

This interview may not happen after all, the recruiter is suddenly acting like my Japanese skills may not warrant any kind of consideration. Of course, he has no idea whether this is true, and I don't either since he has few details about the job and doesn't speak Japanese. I'm now assuming that nothing will come of this...

Sounds like the office already found a friend of one of the employees to fill the position.... ?

Count yourself lucky. Japan blows ATM. Wait for a better job. The stability of the Xbox in Japan is fickle at best. In fact, once the PS3 comes out, the Xbox is doomed.. unless old willy and his merry men can bounce out with Xbox2 and trump Sony.. I mean if they can get a new machine out prior to their competitor.. would guarantee them some success.

Advertising in Japan has been appalling.. I haven't seen an Xbox commercial in quite sometime. There have been relatively few new newspaper, magazine, or other publication-based ads.

In a world where PS rules, they need to come up with fresh, new, and exclusive titles that are geared toward the J-market..

Xbox came here expecting to sell the American way and it flops.. Japanese like strange games.. which the Xbox lacks. They should be setting up deals with McDonalds Japan to promote Xbox.. perhaps free game giveaways, machine giveaways, accessory giveaways, and merchandise giveaways...

Xbox should be on every Japanese youngsters mind.. They should take the best from Nintendo and Sony and throw it in the mix..

BUt they haven't and I believe that is why it is failing. They basically mimicked PS2, and they have paid for that mistake.

ANd their controllers were made for Americans, not the typical Japanese. They should have kids controllers and young adult.. but no, they went with a monster, one size fits all, and paid for that mistake too.

And then they tried to sell it for the same price as the PS2.. with all the money MS has, they could have undercut the PS2 price by 5000 yen and earned a lot more customers. This really is the most baffling mystery to me of all.

Good luck to you if you do get the job.

This is just a short-term job, it's not like I would be in it forever, it would just be a stepping stone to better jobs inside MS, not necessarily in video game land. My career success or failure does not depend on how well the x-box does in Japan, and that is good, because they just laid off about 35 people over there and recalled a bunch more of the staff to Redmond.

Last we communicated he said he referred me to his superior (since I kept asking questions that he didn't know the answer to) so maybe I will have more luck with her.

2004 I think is the release year for PS3, that or 2005. I am not sure. BUt if MS would trump them and say release the Xbox2 ahead of schedule, they'd certainly put a dent into the PS3 future sales. Especially if the Xbox2 outperforms the current machines by 20-40% :D

If performance meant one bit in the console game world, the hierarchy would go xbox, GC, PS2, but it is exactly the opposite. Also the Dreamcast would have succeeded vs. the PSX, but it didn't.

Back to the name card thing.. you need to have a few - one for work and one for play.. (The ones for play are commonly known as "F*ck me cards" to be given out to sweet young things at nightclubs.. well that's what I do anyway!!)

Well all the information you need is your name, private email and phone number - but spend some time on design as I have seen some that are shocking!!

OH WOW.

That's kind of funny. A friend of mine started doing this about 6 or 7 years ago. The everyone laughed at him (except me). All the guys were "scoring", but the QUALITY of the women my friend Joe picked up were top notch. Almost ALWAYS OLs with their own car and place and could hold a conversation in ok English. The other guys picked up girls that had arubaito and mostly all they could do was grin, cook and screw and they lived with their folks so they mooched when they came over. The ladies my friend Joe brought home tended to make him food at home and bring it or buy food and cook it. I was one of the few guys allowed at his place at any time because:
1. I didn't try to get his friends to "hook me up" with a friend of theirs.
2. I didn't to treat his friends like the ho's the other guys took home, i.e. try to get them to come to MY place sometime. Some of the other girls bounced around the group.

Anyway, play name cards work great.
:D
