Nine of the 13 members of the all-girl group, aged between 14 and 20, forked out 144 million yen in income tax, making them the seventh top tax-paying singers.

Solo artist Ayumi Hamasaki was the top tax-paying singer for the first time, shelling out 426 million yen.

Comedian Takaaki Ishibashi has held the top place among actors and TV personalities for five consecutive years.

Hideki Matsui of the Yomiuri Giants topped the athletes' list for the first time.

``I hope the tax money will be used to create an environment for children to enjoy sports,'' the slugger said.

Can't imagine Kiyohara saying that... :roll:

Japanese people just don't know how to plan their taxes well. They equate tax planning with tax evasion, which of course, it isn't.
