Hey guys, http://www.tokyofriends.com

it looks lame. But hey! They'll exchange links with you!

Oh my god, if that's the same group that organized a party I went to once, it is the lamest group of people known to mankind (that is, unless you like having desperate Japanese people with sweat running down their faces coming up to you and asking, "What's your hobby?", all night).

 Wow are you serious? Gawd, I hate that 'what's your hobby' freakin question.

What's your hobby? What sports do you like to join? GQAH!! get away from me!!!

Wow. I'm a F'dGaijin....

Well, it appears that "What's your hobby" must have been one of those catchphrases that appear in Elementary English textbooks authorized by Monbusho. The TokyoFriends group makes liberal use of that phrase.

When I (unwittingly) went to their party once, the cover charge was JPY 3000. For that amount of cash, we had to hang out in a hot, stuffy, non-airconditioned room with no windows and bright lights. They served cans of the cheapest beer and sushi in plastic bento boxes that was obviously purchased at a convenience store. And the people would selfishly stand in line for that crappy sushi and wolf down as many pieces as they could before letting the next person in. What a lousy experience. But it sure makes for funny storytelling.

Maybe we should all get together and start collecting donations for a F*cked Gaijin Relief Fund. All the proceeds will go to reimburse unsuspecting Gaijin who get duped into going to crappy "International Friends" or "Matchmaking" parties.

What do you think?

Hey, if it means I get my 3000 yen back, I'm in.

i've never been, but i'm willing to bet that the 2nd question they all ask you is "Do you like Natto?"

it may be lame city but you gotta admit the chick in the middle here (http://www.tokyofriends.com/pictures/100-0014_img.JPG) and the one here (http://www.tokyofriends.com/pictures/100-0012_img.JPG) are fairly hot.

Hrm. The second girls face is too 'plasticy' for me. Heh.
But the first girl, yeah, hot. Being a foreigner makes it too easy in Japan... After a while though I get tired of hanging with the Vitton toting, fendi wearing, prada looking girls though.

gah. :x

I agree that the girl in the middle from the first link is hot. And I would even say the girl on the left in that picture is cute too. The girl in the second pic doesn't do much for me, but it could just be the lighting in the picture.

I got curious and went to one of these lame shindigs. The food and beer sucked.. all I ended up getting was some warm happoshu. :x And the only cute girl I talked to that night had a BF.. well, that didn't necessarily completely rule everything out, but, still...

Even cold happoshu sucks. What's the deal with that stuff?

i came across this site today (alright, truth be told I was looking for random gaijin pics!):

Marco Polo Club (http://home.att.ne.jp/sun/mpc/page2_e.html)

looks equally as lame as Tokyo Friends.

I especially like the warning to any Young Dudes on the prowl: "Please be aware that we do not welcome apparent "NAMPA(*)" in our place."

Looking through all the different photo albums (what I won't do to find the perfect fucked gaijin photo) I kept seeing the same gaijin faces event after event. Now that's lame AND fucked!

That's link is hilarious - they have some great captions if you look through the other photos. For example:

We played hand bells. Most of us touched the bells in the first time.

No, you're F*cked for taking the time to look for them. Welcome to the club and keep it up! I hope more F*cked Gaijin start doing their civic duty to seek out and expose more Random Gaijin. (Hint, hint. )

We'll be successful when someone unknowingly posts a picture of another FG visitor. That ought to be interesting...

Don't worry, Harvey. You're gonna be able to document some of those parties first-hand pretty soon.

A little different speed, but this one looks like a winner too: ESUJ English Club (http://www.esuj.gr.jp/english_club/eng/index.htm). It looks just a bit more formal though.

Our policy, "undertake activity which entails the sending of information overseas from Japan for the purpose of furthering international mutual understanding."

The purpose of the "English Club" is to enjoy learning English, and to practice speaking in English. Mr. Muramatsu gives us interesting stories from movie scenes, jokes, and his great store of knowledge and experience. Also, speaking in English among the participants is encouraged.

Man. I sure hope not....

I think I should be able to avoid those parties if I try... no? I hope so! man. the thought of it.

They're like a gaijin interactive petting zoo or something.

Yeah, you should be able to avoid them, since you have to PAY to get in.

Isn't the whole point of these snoozefests to show up pissed, eat a pack of breathmints at the door and to invite all the decent chicks back to your, uh, 'hotel room'?
Just wondering

Imagine how one of these things would go spiked with a bunch of FG.

... but what if 'Rob *****' were to suddenly make an appearance at one of these pet shops :P Of course, all decked out and speaking 'FRUENT ENGRISH:'

I love their proactive Ware-ware-Nihonjin-ism (3) and anti-Katakana (4) MISSION STATEMENT (http://www.esuj.gr.jp/esuj/eng/detail/mission.htm). :)
(3) convey information about Japan to the rest of the world through English
(4) endeavor to enlighten the Japanese people on the undesirability of introducing English unnecessarily and indiscriminately into their own language
