I like almost all enka singers, well, except the fat or ugly ones like Tendo Yoshimi or Wada Akiko, I just can't stand to look at em. But I think it depends more on the song sometimes, a good singer can do an unappealing song and it does nothing for me.

Anyway, there are a lot of enka videos up on YouTube, but there are some problems:

1. Some of the videos are taped off the screen of karaoke machines, so you get a shaky handheld video camera pointing at the video, and you can hear the cameraman breathing.

2. There's some stupid anime with a character named Enka, so when you search for enka, the most popular videos are either clips of the anime, or a bunch of fucking idiots acting out anime plots.

So.. search around YouTube, and when you find a real enka song, look at the Recommended section, there won't be any anime geeks on that list. Or look at the name of the person who posted good enka and see what else they posted. I found a lot of good enka by searching this way. I downloaded a bunch of the videos off YouTube and I keep em in my iPhone.

Here, I'll get you started, here's one of my favorites. Ooh she's a babe, most enka singers don't wear miniskirts and knee high leather boots. And what a voice, she can really belt out a tune.

I like Tendo Yoshimi. She may be fat, but she's cute.

Well, I could overlook the fat if she was a better singer. But much better singers are just a click or two away.
I should note that I also enjoy male enka singers, but their vocal styles all seem pretty much similar to me, more similar than the women, so the appeal is more in the song than the singer.
But give me a choice and I'd rather watch a hot young woman like Otowa Shinobu.
