Those were on in the States about six month ago. It is true, once advertisers get a hold of trend it's dead. The thing that make these ads especially bad is that they aren't even well produced. The just scream cheap and cheesey!
Those Benihana CMs are meant to be "fun"...too bad they didn't try to do something a little bit more cliched, sheesh.
The story wrestler Rocky Aoki the founder Benihana is fitting of a soap opera. There's rumors of Yakuza laundering of money and blood-feud with his brother that resulted in the Gasho chain. Basically, Benihana is run by a zero-education, Japan-reject, musclehead with lowbrow taste---perfect for American Success .
Smart move on their part. The Benihana ones both look like shit, and not in the "low budget is cool" kind of way either. The T-Mobile one is appropriately slick. A shame that the Sidekick is the modeled on a bar of soap.
