JAPAN is No 1! 'No sex please, we're Japanese.'

Postby Taro Toporific » Wed Nov 27, 2002 9:41 pm

Last year, Durex SSL International's Sex annual poll of 18,500 people in 28 countries, ranked the Japanese are the world's least prolific lovers. See the 2002 results in PDF at http://www.durex.com/index.html
But this year, Last Place goes to Singapore (only 110 times a year) and then Thailand (112). While the most love-struck people of all are the French who have sex 167 times a year, Japan was not even in the running this year and was dropped off the list.

I sure there's lots of reasons for Japan dropping off the list such as the survey was only in English and this...

All work, no sex in Singapore: study

Reuters Singapore, November 18---Work is killing Singaporeans' sex drive. Too stressed from their jobs, they have little drive to make love at the end of the day, a study shows.

The result is that Singaporeans below the age of 40 have sex six times a month, far lower than many other societies, said Professor Victor Goh, from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the National University of Singapore.
...
About 40 per cent of men and only 20 per cent of women below 40 said they wanted more.

"Sex life should be more important," Goh said.

"You have to prioritise and make the effort to create the ambience or schedule time for it. Don't leave it to the end of the day."

yeah,Japanese is probably shy to talk about sex,but sex can be easiliy found anywhere here, don't you think so? It is still strange to have Japan dropped off from the list.

And talking about shy,why I keep finding myself sitting right next to those Oyaji who read 'Echi' Manga newspaper/magazines in the train?

If you're identifiably gaijin, I assume it's some kind of mind-game Oyaji like to play ... a little of my personal history here...

I used to be in charge of couple of cub reporters from Norway, total blond babes. While teaching the babe reporters the ropes here in Japan, I noticed on the trains that wacko Oyaji would flock to their read 'Echi' magazines in front of them. It was like a Star Trek tractor beam: those blonds would draw 'Echi' Oyaji like a supermassive black hole. Weird.

Maybe the Japanese who participated in the poll thought it referred only to spouses. :D

No.I am not an identifiable gaijin, that means they read 'echi' magazine anytime and anywhere they want anyway.Another experience is once I was busy talking on my h/phone standing on a train platform which was not crowded at all and suddenly I felt someone had come real close to me behind, by the time I realised what had happened, he pretended to walk away. I also witnessed the same thing happened to my girlfriend. And I thought if we were identifiable gaijin, these Oyaji won't dare to do this  I was really so angry and could not do anything about it (as he had walk away, and my Japanese is weak to complain to the "Eki In"

Maybe the Japanese who participated in the poll thought it referred only to spouses

Excactly,Joe.I think you have the answer.

Poll is distorted

Postby Marvin Feltcher » Fri Dec 13, 2002 11:21 am

It's my understanding, thanks to Shukan Taishu, that the Durex poll is kind of distorted. Until this year, particpiants had apparently been directly canvassed for their opinions - in English. This guaranteed enough Japanese answered to provide a sample for the survey, though an English-only poll is not a very good way to go about getting an accurate finding about Japan.
This year, though, respondents had to go to the Durex website and answer the questions themselves - in English only.
Personally, I think the Japanese bonk like bloody rabbits. In fact, the Japanese have a healthy obsession with sex.
Other things about this survey are dodgy, too. The French do it 167 times a year? No way. No man in his right mind could be padding up to go into bat every second night with a mustachioed, hairy-armpitted woman whose breath reeks of garlic -- it's abnormal.

UPDATE:
France tops the sex league
China Daily, Oct 12
...In a poll of more than 350,000 people published on Tuesday, condom maker Durex found that lovers across the globe are having sex an average of 103 times per year, but the French are living up to their romantic reputation with an average of 137 times. ... Asian countries lag behind in the love stakes with the Japanese managing just 46 times per year and those in Hong Kong and Singapore just 79 times.

One per cent of adults 'asexual'From NEWS.com.au correspondents in Paris
October 14, 2004

AROUND one per cent of adults have absolutely no interest in sex, a surprisingly high figure ....analysis reported in New Scientist magazine looked at responses made among 18,000 people in Britain....

BTW, wasn't there some survey posted on here before that claimed the US was number one in sex. Me and all of my friends found that hard to believe (but maybe we're just losers). If stress from hardwork is such a factor in Asia's low scores why are Americans doing it so much? We work just as much as the Asians. Maybe it's because the kids don't leave home until they're married and having kids of their own so couples never get those few years of privacy to bang away.

Anyway, this sounds about as unscientific as a survey can get.

Does the survey include the Japanese guys who go to those 'Health Domes' or 'health Spa's'. Or maybe they get enough there so don't wanna do it with the missus :p
