Just attended my first Japanese funeral

Now I understand why you never pass anything directly from one set of chopsticks to another. 8O

Thank you,

P.S. That little guy "Mini Gaijin" gives me a real "bone".

8O Dude!!! get a fucking clue. cs just went to a funeral...which means it is likely someone he knew. dont ask him to give you a detailed account of a friend's funeral and then be glib enough to end with a grinning smiley and a comment about your "bone" :!:  :!:

the preists pass the bones of the deceased with sticks and it looks as if they're passing from one set of chopsticks to another...if youre interested then look up japanese funeral customs but even here there are times when you should use some decorum

cstaylor, sorry to hear you had to attend a funeral

Isn`t there also a tradition of offering food to the deceased with the chopsticks standing straight up in the rice?

Yep this is true.. which is why you should always lay your chopsticks ontop of a bowl and never stick them into the food while you are not eating.

The casket is often burned with coins and after the pyre is over the coins are often distibuted to guests.

(p.s. Gaisaradatsuraku - please refrain from homophobic slurs - they are boring and not very clever.)

Brad, just because CS attended a funeral doesn't necessarily mean it was somebody close to him. Perhaps it was the relative of a friend/acquaintance. Perhaps it was a work colleague who he wasn't personally close with but the company requested everyone's attendance. Thus, I don't think GayGaijin's comment required such a blasting.

Incidentally, GomiGirl is right. I also think Gaisarada's remarks were totally uncalled for--and just plain stupid. Since when is homosexuality a "gender affiliation"?

I think someone needs a nap!!

If you make inflamatory statements expect to get flamed... actually I thought it was quite justified... homophobia is sooo 5 minutes ago.. get with the program.

Well the point is that we dont know know who it was... and gaygaijin certainly didnt know....it could have been someone very close... so it was unthinkably inconsiderate in my opinion. Inexcusable.

What if that you had just been to a close friend's funeral and I walked up and said,"OOh you were at a funeral....give me all the gory details....take any snapshots?.... oh and by the way, gomigrrl has great tits!"

Even if it was someone he barely knew (which seems unlikely...I mean, how many strangers go to someone's funeral?) That post was the next best thing to being at an accident site and asking the paramedics to pull the bodies closer so you can get a look at the deadgirl's ass

Damnit when did i turn into the "hall monitor"

Backoff of gomigrrl

you really should hang out for a while and read a bit before you start shooting off at the mouth like... she knows quite a bit about Japan and is an intelligent poster.

Get an account, trollboy.

Brad

PS. Sadly i do have to agree with you about gaygaijin and the fact that when a straight person makes overtly sexual comments we're considered boorish male pigs but when a gay person does it theyre encouraged and told "you go girl!"

.... and the fact that people regard anyone who points this out as homophobic. Ah the neverending array of double-standards there are against the "evil" straight white male

Her comments are laughable and you are a sad puppy dog sniffing around for some 'tang.

By the way, the only troll here is the one in your tiny g'string you little man. 8O

How about responding to my comments instead of hurling insults (or maybe intelligent thinking isn't something you do while dancing at the Manhole Club).

what the hell...i'll play along too :)

I never said she was an expert...i said she knows alot. She is there so she has to know something about it which is a hell of alot more than most people. Not that i would dare say she knows more than you ...oh no never would i disparriage you in any way since we all know so much about you and your many accomplishments.

oh so youve paid enough attention to posts to know I used to be a stripper... good for you but you didnt pay enough attention to notice I havent insulted you in anyway... I defended others and told you to back off. I'm not a troll...ive been here a while and at least have taken the time to register
<troll mode>
okay poopsie...bring the noise. Me?? little man?? right!! i havent even started with you, my little fucknut. You hide behind your screen and try to act like you know a damn thing. Youre probably some guy tossing off to some internet porn in your room while your mom bang on the door asking when youre going to get a job and move out. She's concerned because youre 38, living at home, bald and fat... Ever seen a real woman naked in good light, besides your mother? 8O

come on out into the real world and i'll rip off your head and shit down your neck, and unless youre considerably bigger than 6'2" 230lbs then i should be calling you littleman

It is way past time for that nap...

I feel pity for the small and cowardly mind that needs to suck up so much bandwidth with banality while hiding behind the anonymity of a browser, safe from any real possibilty of repercussions of bad behaviour. If it wasn't so tragic, it would actually be amusing if the insults were original - but alas they are not. :? :karma2:

Sticks and stones my friend...

Oh dear - just because a bully challenges me to a fight, I will more often than not decline the very polite and kind offer to do so... why - because I have much better things to do with my time than answer purile baiting from someone with the mind of a pre-pubescent school-boy.

Also, it is usually those with a limited mental capacity who a) resort to name calling or b) settle differences with threats of violence. Both a sure sign of a difficiency of character.

Sorry my friend, but you are not worth my effort.

Oops - time for me to shut down my computer and go out into the world with interesting friends to attend fun events.

Bye all - have a nice day.

Let me know where you want to meet.

The start of this thread seemed innocent enough, but I think things got ugly when you were offended by people being PC:

1st post - "Guys like you really need to get a new act."
2nd post - "As for just plain stupid, Kamome (or whatever your blinking handle is), look no further than your inane commnets posted throughout this website."
3rd post - "Are you mixing up Japan with Papua New Guineau (or however, the f that s'hole country is spelled)." - boy, you're a class act.

Let me know the minute you arrive in Japan. Oh, I forgot.. You're a faceless antagonist. Where in the States do you live, boy?
