Morning Musume Recruited by the SDF

Postby jingai » Sun Aug 10, 2003 2:55 pm

The Singapore Straits Times reports that J-Pop band Morning Musume has been recruited by the Self Defense Forces to appear on recruitment posters. This is an apparent bid to attract more women, children, and rorikon men into the armed services.

What's the message?
'Doing one's best feels good,' it proclaims in Japanese, followed by 'Go! Go! Peace!' in English.

Take away the slogans and the advertisement looks just like any other pop-idol poster, said the English-language newspaper.

Defence Agency officials say the idea behind the Morning Musume poster is to eliminate images associated with the military.

I am imagining them all dressed in military garb...

That may attract the entirely wrong group of people to the SDF.

The first rule in publicity, he said, is 'to make people talk about it'.

The cutest girls on earth endorsing the second weakest military on earth, (next to Canada's.) The goofier the girls look the more records they will sell. Besides, they are cute and nothing bad ever happens to the cute people!

Nope... if you're unfortunate enough to be forced to endure any amount of kiddie TV in Japan you'll know that a popular method of writing a song is to preceed a word with the words "Go Go..."

eg. "Go Go Shinkansen"

"Go Go Go Prin Prin"
