Gaijin Actors in Japan

Postby Rabid Nelson » Tue Nov 12, 2002 4:23 pm

Hi, I'm a new user in this forum, and I've had a burning question that's been growing in me for quite a while. There appears to be an enourmous demand for native English speaking actors in Japan. I can only suspect that there might be an entire subculture of gaijin actors in Japan. I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about this, or what work is like for gainjin actors? Thanks.

Hey! Someone should write a book.

Everything a FG wanted to know about acting in Japan but was afraid to ask.

Thanks for the list, but unfortunately, I don't live in Japan and I don't plan on living there anytime soon. But still, I'll keep the list in case I decide to take the JET program at some point, or something like that.

anyone striving to get on tv - they need an endless supply of foreigners. It really isn't hard if you ask around. But as Rob Pongi says - you won't get rich. I was on a TV show with some other foreigners hosted by Shingo from Smap. Compensation for going out of my way for a whole day and doing the live broadcast and stuff? 8000yen. Plus a lot of strange encounters with smap fans.... sure if you can do one of those a day then you're making a living - but these things only come up so often.
