Japan Attacks US With Mumps

Daily progress: Mumps outbreak linked to Japan?
The outbreak of mumps at the University of Virginia can be traced to a strain of the virus that came into the United States from Japan in June 2006, health officials suspect. Lilian Peake, health director for the Thomas Jefferson Health District, said DNA analysis completed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows a similarity to the “G1” mumps strain from Japan...A Japanese visitor carried the strain into New Hampshire last summer. The mumps outbreak in Charlottesville so far totals 63 cases, 54 of which have been at UVa. The total includes 19 confirmed cases and 44 probable ones, Peake said...more...

This is interesting - Japanese mumps at my alma mater! There aren't many J-students at UVA, but I suppose only 1 is required to spread this disease.

Yeah, this sort of thing happens a lot on campuses, where all the students are crammed together. There was a meningitis outbreak at my university, back when I was a student. I remember standing in a crowded line at the coffee shop in the student union, the woman behind me was telling her friend, "my roommate got meningitis, I have to take antibiotics!" I immediately exited the line and got far away from her.

So that it explains. Bird you will walking so bowlegged when you were in Tokyo the other day I couldn't help but notice. I had just assumed it was from the YBF treatments you were taking. I didn't realize the mumps had gone down on you! Kinda of a Cavalier traveling bag huh?

I laughed out loud in my office when I read this! I've usually heard "bowlegged" (gani-mata) to describe J-women who've banged too many guys, but so be it. Anyway, I never saw the connection between mumps and YBF until your post - thanks for the enlightenment!
