[quote="2triky"]Canadian gets ass kicked on train]

That's bullshit. The guy punches me, I am going to do my level best to see that he wears his asshole home as a new necktie. Sure Japan has some weird take on laws and Japanese can view things differently, but there ain't nothing in the culture, or in my own up-bringing that is going to allow this guy to ding me in the nose without receiving my upmost efforts to make him a candidate for the position of harem guard in return.

The guy probably did the right thing by not going after the attacker as far as keeping himself out of trouble with the po-pos is concerned. However, I'm with you on this one. Unless I was KOed by the punch there is no way I wouldn't have hit back.

Although, sometimes when shit like that happens you're so shocked you can't react. I could definitely see a sucker punch to the nose doing that.

annoying drunk oyajis

Postby james » Sat May 03, 2008 1:13 pm

i had a non-violent confrontation on the train about a month ago. there was plenty of potential for it to escalate very quickly though fortunately that didn't happen.

i was coming back from a trip to canada with four of my students. a delayed flight out of vancouver, missing express train connections etc had us absolutely beat.

there was this drunk middle-aged asshole on the train (one can of asahi no less!) it was obvious from the start that he was going to be trouble though at first he was keeping to himself and just acting like a moron. towards the end of his can of beer though he started making his way closer to our group and leering at the girls, all of whom were asleep. i finally stepped in to intervene when this fuckwit licked his fingers and was about to touch one of the girl's hair. (no one touches my harem! ;) )

he then started to get somewhat belligerent, asking me what i was doing with four underage girls, telling me how ayashii i was etc and demanding to see my passport. yeah, somehow all the luggage wasn't a big enough clue.

dicktard: "パスポート見せてもらう。"
me: "ほっといて、黙ってもらう。"

he then tried to find out where i live. "田舎" wasn't an answer to his satisfaction. i'm not a confrontational person by any means but i'd been up for 30 hours at this point and was in no mood to be bothered by some xenophobic fuckwith with the iq of pasta. he started to make his way forward again and i'd had enough. i was ready to belt him but just took a very assertive step forward and postured until he stood down. luckily he did. this guy was small, even compared to me, and i'm not a big guy by any stretch. i'm just happy that even in a state of absolute fatigue and annoyance that i kept my wits about. i really didn't want the 23 day holiday inn express.

he then complained that my speech was not very sensei-like and how "外国人は日本を汚す" to which i replied "飲みかけのビールをこぼして、お前の方が日本を汚す".

i was quite happy when this mofo got off the train.

I can add to this thread's authenticity. I am from New York, one of the more aggressive cities in the U.S., and although I came from a poor background and was not sheltered, I have never been in trouble with the police in the U.S. After only one year here in Japan I had a run-in with a taxi who tried to screw me and I found myself talking to the police for four hours. I guess I'm lucky I wasn't arrested, but considering that I am really good about keeping to myself and staying out of trouble, it's rather surprising to see how easy it is to get in trouble with the police here.

I don't know if I would have had the temperament not to hit the train guy back, but I TOTALLY understand the guy not running after him or hitting him back because it seems like gaijins here only get justice if the cop happens to be a big fan of the foreigners AND the gaijin has ten JAPANESE witnesses backing him up.

3 years and the guy's gotten into 6 fights?

The guy on the train was an asshole and probably almost completely to blame, but I'm having a hard time believing Scott as the wide-eyed innocent. He reminds me of my boss who constantly gets into these situations because he (a) takes even the tiniest shit as a personal affront, and (b) has only one tactic in a confrontation: escalate. And he wonders afterwards why shit always happens to him and never to me.
I have a blog. Last update: August 18, 2013.

I wondered about that too, not that I believe he provoked the attack, but it's hard to believe he had no part in aggravating the situation.

But Mr. Scott should remember, tomorrow is another day. Tomorrow he will get on the Odakyu again and quite possibly ride in the same car as his attacker again.

This is why on trains I try to constantly FART on trains as much as humanly possible. I tend to get loads of room all to myself even on the most crowded trains. :drool5:

I'm not sure, but I think I read somewhere that BB's daikon downloads have been declared biochemical health hazards.
