US Sailors Save Man From Yamanote Line Tracks
Stars & Stripes: Sailors rescue man from train tracks
While walking along a crowded JR Yamanote Line platform Friday night, Petty Officer 1st Class Henry Caballero thought he saw a man stagger and fall onto the train tracks below. It was 10:30 p.m. and it had been a long night \ could it have been a plastic bag or a piece of trash instead? "I couldnft believe if it was true," said Caballero, a Bronx native stationed aboard the USS George Washington. "I thought maybe my eyes were playing tricks on me." Caballerofs eyes were fine, as were those of Petty Officer 1st Class James Brice. A Japanese man wearing white, in his late 20s to early 30s, had fallen about five feet and lay unconscious. "He walked off the platform like he saw an invisible step," said Brice, of Rogersville, Tenn. "He hit the rails and it sounded like something was broken." Caballero checked for the next train, then jumped to the tracks and hoisted the man up by his armpits...Meanwhile, Brice had joined Caballero on the tracks. "Jumping down to the track, I didnft think about it," Brice said. "When I saw my friend drop, it was an instant reaction to follow. Once I got down there I saw Caballero, and my first thought was, eWherefs the train at?f"...Caballero saw lights in the distance, somewhere between 500 and 800 yards away, moving toward him. Hands from the crowd began stretching over the platform and the two sailors passed the unconscious man to them. The crowd then helped Caballero and Brice up. Fortunately for them, Caballero says, he thinks someone had alerted the train to stop...The two sailors just wanted to get back to Yokosuka afterward, but they heard an elderly man from the crowd tell security officers about the gaijin, or foreigners, who had rescued the man. A younger Japanese man from the crowd helped translate before the two sailors could continue on. "The guy said it was pretty amazing, that you guys are Americans and youfre helping a Japanese guy," Brice said. "But we donft really think about it that way. We see a guy in distress and we help them out" ...more...

The underlying fact is that he, or any Japanese, would have to respond in this nature about the fact they were fgs doing this, other than to notice that it was an excellent display of humanity by a couple of individuals (while the J-crowd in general just looked on).
BTW I did a cusory Yahoo J-search and this did not appear in the J-media, only the usual tai-US tripe about the beigun animals...

Nice to see some people can help a fellow human in distress, but this part seemed kind of strange to me...
"The guy said it was pretty amazing, that you guys are Americans and youfre helping a Japanese guy," Brice said. "But we donft really think about it that way. We see a guy in distress and we help them out"
Why should this matter, and why even think this way? If I saw anyone in life threatening danger I will help them no matter what they look like, or where they came from. I dont even think it would cross mind. I should hope most people would do the same.
I think the sad part that goes along with this story is that the good thing these two guys did will be forgotten a few weeks when some petty crime is committed by Sailors, and they are all demonized again.

Maybe
Just because they said it happened, doesn't mean it did. It may have happened. And just who did this spontaneous translating? It's hearsay.
The military loves these self-aggrandizing propaganda stories. I've seen people get medals for making up things like this - photo ops, flags in background, music, pats on the back, tears - everyone gets a piece of the action.

Give me a fucking break!!!! Are you for real or you so jaded that you can't see that a simple act of kindness and hospitality by 2 guys that i know personally, can be misconstrued as another way for US, meaning me, sailors over here, to wave the flag and bring out the brass band???? 2 words. Go fuck yourself!!!!!

This is what happens when you don't study in school, can't comprehend what you read, can't get or keep a job and are forced to join the navy to have a place to sleep indoors and eat.
By-the-way, exclamation points, like screaming, doesn't make you right. It just makes you annoying.

Let's see here.
Apparently someone hasn't listened to an American comedian in the past 15 years. I don't know who started it, but Denis Leary got really famous for his "2 words, 'Nuclear fucking weapons'" and or other 3 word phrases, comment.
But I guess you actually think someone can't count to 3 correctly because they're from America, is that it?
Oh, wait, you must be IN on the joke and making a further joke, right?
2 words. Humorless racist fucktard.
