Never said I held the same opinion of moles. The wife had one removed when she lived in the U.S. (very inexpensive procedure).dimwit wrote:cstaylor wrote:They're considered to be signs of good luck IIRC.
They certainly do wonders for your love life.
I wondered that as well. Not only for appearance, but don't moles possibly become problems if left untreated?.. Is cancer one of the concerns? It seems like I read that somewhere..fatslug wrote:Why dont Japanese ppl get their warts or moles fixed...
They can become melanomas if not tracked carefully.GuyJean wrote:Not only for appearance, but don't moles possibly become problems if left untreated?.. Is cancer one of the concerns? It seems like I read that somewhere..
The only danger is to their wallets. If a good plastic surgeon can rebuild a face like Beat Takeshi's, filling in a divit created by a wart removal would be a trivial piece of work.dimwit wrote:I have heard, althought I have no idea if it is true, that Japanese consider nose wart removal to be a very hazardous medical procedure. I have no idea why.

Of course, I'd have that work doen in Hollywood or the San Fernando Valley, not Japan.
But that's the problem; if you wait until it's big enough to be a divit, it's you're own fault..cstaylor wrote:filling in a divit created by a wart removal would be a trivial piece of work.

Well, you can only do nose modifications so many times before you run out of bone cartilage.FG Lurker wrote:Yah, you could get that same great surgeon as Michael Jackson uses...
They aren't. There's a very good reason why Japanese refuse to have those moles removed here, or ex-Yokozuna Takanohana went abroad for knee surgery.FG Lurker wrote:Not saying that Japanese doctors are any better though.

I see.. I am becoming smarter..GomiGirl wrote:Also, moles tend to be fed by major veins and arteries so it is not so easy to lop them off as their roots tend to go around the blood source.
dimwit wrote:Plastic surgery is Japan is largely unregulated hence the mixed results. ANY doctor can become a plastic surgeon. My wife, who is an internist considered becoming one except she hate cutting people.

Which make you wonder why Hideki Matsu still hasn't got that life-form below his eyebrow terminated.![]()
GomiGirl wrote:My doctor in aus told me that it is only the small flat black moles that tend to become melonomas. The big brown ones, while unsightly, are usually benign.
But warts are a skin lesion that can be burnt off with medication. Or for a home remedy, tape a banana skin (white side) onto a wart everyday until it has gone as there are some enzymes in them that will eat them away.
