A friend of mine directed this documentary. It took him years to complete and was a 'labor of love'.. But it's now finally complete..

[floatl][/floatl]The showing of "A ZEN LIFE - D.T. Suzuki" at the Canadian Embassy on November 28 was full. Unfortunately, there were too many reservations, and the Embassy had to inform 150 people that it would not be possible for them to have seats . To those who were "bumped," our sincere apologies.

As a result of this unexpected response, the Embassy decided to hold a

2nd screening of the documentary video
"A ZEN LIFE - D.T. Suzuki"

Not sure.. But you have a variety to choose from..

D.T. Suzuki's books have been widely read and commented on by many important figures. A notable example is An Introduction to Zen Buddhism, which includes a thirty page commentary by famous psychoanalyst Carl Jung. Other works include Essays in Zen Buddhism (three volumes), Studies in Zen Buddhism, and Manual of Zen Buddhism. Additionally, William Barrett has compiled many of Suzuki's articles and essays concerning Zen into a volume entitled Studies in Zen - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D.T._Suzuki

I'd start with 'Studies of Zen'; essays go well with my limited attention span..

I checked out his intro to zen at the library... It is in his words aimed at western readers who know little to nothing of the topic.. has an intro written by Yung too who opens with huge praise for Suzuki. Im gonna order it from amazon.

If anyone checks out the film id love to hear how it was... I wish I could get up there but im stuck here in tropical Nagoya with minimal moolah.

Morgan returns to Superdeluxe for the 34th concert in his Morgan's Organ series. Once again, Morgan will give an extended solo performance, featuring more amazing instruments from his vintage keyboard collection. Be prepared to hear some fascinating old/new sounds as Morgan improvises with his always-fresh take on minimal music.

This special edition will include, in place of the second live set, a showing of the new film A Zen Life directed by Canadian Michael Goldberg. Morgan composed the music for this film. It is a fascinating 77-minute documentary covering the life of Zen master DT Suzuki (1870-1966), who played a leading role in bringing Zen to the western world. The film includes interviews with a variety of renowned people whose lives were deeply affected by their contact with Suzuki, including John Cage, Gary Snyder, Donald Richie, Huston Smith, and Suzuki's longtime assistant, Mihoko Okamura. Japanese translation will be projected alongside the film.
