[/floatl]ZakZak (Japanese) reports that the publication of the monthly version of boys comic Shonen Jump will be suspended from June. The better-known weekly will be published as usual. Monthly Shonen Jump first appeared in 1974 to accompany the successful weekly and saw sales of around 1.5 million at it's peak popularity in the 1990s, however, this has dropped to only 370,000 for recent issues. That might be creditable for a new comic but not sustainable for one that has been a giant in the industry for so long. The announcement has raised concerns about the health of the local manga market where fewer titles can command substantial sales. Rival publication Corocoro is still selling slightly over 1.09m a month while Gekkan Shonen Magazine sells 1m.
