Hell Bush can't even speak his native language let alone another!

Oh yes it's well known that the new PM is fluent in Mandarin, he is a former diplomat and so has confidence in speaking.

Rudd's Chinese-speech dazzler - because of incidents like this he was accused of grandstanding and posing by members of the now former government - but most people don't see anything boastful about being able to speak another language. After all many Australians do themselves.

i hardly speak a lick of mandarin but damn, he definitely sounds very good, again, not that i'd be one to judge. impressive indeed.

i'd hardly call it grandstanding. i think being able to speak at least one foreign language should be mandatory for any world leader, and for having a cozy in with a major economy like that.. all the more power to him.

I distinctly remember a clip with Bush from when he visited France during his first term (so this was probably before Iraq as well), and had a press conference together with Chirac. One person asked a question to Bush in English, and asked Chirac, or monsieur le Prèsident as he called him, to comment as well in French.

The first thing Bush said was something along the lines of "A ha! I can speak two languages too... Que Bueno!"

Everyone not on the American team was like "ooooooookay..."
