Who the fuck reads highway signs anyway? GPS navigation FTW...

around here we can still find ippandou road signs, possibly older than me, that have escaped romanization. guess they figure a gaijin that far out had best be able to read or is hopelessly lost anyway.

Whoaaa... have you seen the price of these ?, I'm using a playstation portable with GPS antenna and Maplus3 software. And you'd be surprised by the huge number of cheapskates around here using the same miserable solution.

 I can't say I'm too surprised by the results when anything too confusing happens on the road.

I have a Panasonic HDD navi in the car. It works well enough but does get confused at times. It also has a bad habit of delaying instructions sometimes which pisses me off to no end. The worst thing though is that it has a UI "designed" (and I use that in the loosest possible sense of the word) by Panasonic. Those fuckers couldn't design a good UI to save their lives.

Next time around it will be Pioneer for sure. Far and away the best navis on the market.

I have no experience with after-market navi devices. I bought my Honda with the manufacturer's navi package, and it's been incredibly useful (cool HDD audio system too). I'm even quite impressed with the UI.

So, question to those in the know, how do after-market navis compare?

UI design require some understanding of human psychology...

Japanese companies only have barely litterate code monkeys...

It's not like there was no documentation available on the subject, between Xerox and and Apple Human interface guidelines you really have enough to keep your winter evenings busy...
