Most of the time those old days photos in books and magazines are so tiny and blurry and lacking of detail - you know da kine...

And this after Japan led the world with it's Nikon camera and all...

This site is pretty good too although the images are a little earlier in time.

This is not exactly on topic, but not entirely off topic either. It is however, a unique photo history of Kimi Yokota who was born in 1921 in Tokyo, Japan where she lived until her mid-thirties before moving to Chicago, IL after agreeing to an arranged marriage.

Scott Foutz, a University Of Illinois Professor and prolific J-Horror DVD reviewer, was among the handfull of people who knew Kimi in the years before her passing and has preserved her memory using photos she took throughout her life. It is a very unique visual history and a deeply moving memorial and I thought you all might appreciate it too.

Thanks for that. I liked seeing the old Frank Lloyd Wright Imperial Hotel. And the 1936 Nissan Car promotion doesn't look a great deal different from today's events.

Here is a photo of Sukiyabashi in Ginza from around the '50s.

The curved Nichigeki Theater, in the back, was the site of nationalist rallies in the early '40s. This shot was taken roughly from where the Sony building is today.

Ahhh, natsukashiiiii! I used to spend a lot of time at the Nichigeki, as well as the Asahi Beer Hall right behind it. Had a serious thing for one of the singer/dancers who ended up droping me for an old goat who just happened to have a ton of money. Well, I would have probably dropped her for a goat anyway.
