Hi,

Looking for artsy, small, dingy theaters for screenings, and to be screened. Do they exist in the Tokyo area?

I can only think of the places where Filmmarmalade's held their events:

PARCO Shibuya runs a few Art-House Theaters. I've been to screenings at Futatmagawa Takeshima-ya Dept Store....

IF you can provide your own screen, every ward in Kanto has CHEAP (nearly free) small theaters normally used for ongaku stuff. The ward theaters with screens may be too large for Filmmarmalade-like events.

Some of these ward theaters are REAL small, trippy-hippy places, like the "Fukagawa Edo Museum"Theater. Call my Mrs Taro, the koto sensei, and brainstorm with her.

I think Guy Jean just got a pretty damn good reply from Taro and Jumpsuit. Now if you can both just tell us where the yen/dollar rate is going in the next tweve months, we are in business.

That would be my betting direction on the yen dollar too if I ever got rid of this yellow streak on my back. Never have a clue about gold - everyone I meet loves it which always rings a few alarm bells. Am I really lucky enough to know all the smart people?
But refer back to my "never have a clue about gold" for my real input.

So then you are implying a surge in the Nikkei, right? You really think this recovery will have wheels 6 months from now?

Taro's numbers could imply a Nikkei anywhere.

Stronger yen = weak exporters = lower Nikkei
Strong gold = strong china = strong exporters = strong Nikkei

Since the end of 2002 (the point where the Nikkei started its most recent positive move), the yen has gained nearly 15% on the dollar. In that time the [url=http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=^N225&t=2y]Nikkei has gone up nearly 50%[/url]. From what I've read, very little of this increase has been due to Japanese investing in their market (they've been cashing out); instead it has been foreigners. So if foreigners continue buying into the recovery they'd continue buying yen to put it in the stock market.

I'm not saying a strong yen means a strong Nikkei as a rule. I'm just repeating what I've read for this recent case. :P The Financial Times had a bit on foreigner involvement in the Japanese stock market recently. Let see if I can track that down.
