As a taxpayer are you happy to spend 40% more to cool government offices in exchange for the increased comfort and marginal productivity of public workers?
No. I think we should pay them all minimum wage and not give them pensions or healthcare. As a matter of fact we should use conscripts who can't quit till they've done 10 years of service. That would save us lots of money.
indeed. An office working temperature of 28 degrees is not unreasonable. A lot of workers would take it in a flash.

Next time I travel distance in mid summer I'm renting a car with a bigger engine. Vamos-chan is a trooper but I don't want to break her.
Have the aircon coolant replaced /topped the HFC134a seems to enjoy seeping out ruining the efficiency of the clinate control system.

The irony is they think AC is what will kill them. Of course some of them are just too poor to run up their electric bills.
THIS!
They go on and on about how it's bad for your health. If they're too poor, that's one thing...but most of the time it's either too cheap or insane
Three elderly sisters in their 80s and 90s were found dead at their residence in Tokyo’s Itabashi Ward on Saturday. Police said they died of heatstroke.
The bodies of Naoko Kuratsu, 90, Toki Yuasa, 86, and Tomo Sakamoto, 82, were found in the bedroom and living room of their residence at around 10 a.m. Saturday, Fuji TV reported.
According to police, they had been dead for three to four days when their bodies were found. An acquaintance of their relatives, who lives nearby, was asked to check on them as the relatives had been unable to reach them.
Police said the sisters had lived together for about 10 years since their husbands passed away. When they were found, the air conditioner was not on and the room temperature was over 30 degrees.
Neighbors said the women did not like air conditioning and usually left it off.
The house was locked and there were no external injuries on any of the bodies.
Mike Oxlong wrote:I don't like aircon either. These spot coolers in unisulated rooms / homes can be pretty uncomfortable. It's nearly as bad in plenty of offices and older shops and restaurants. Now, a/c i have no problem with. A reasonably insulated building with a proper central a/c is quite a treat in this climate. Or Vegas. But the common local variant - the objections become somewhat understandable. Though I would prefer not to die to prove a point...

It will be interesting to see if this becomes a hot topic this summer. I could see the media stroking it for all it's worth.

One’s an incident, two’s a coincidence, and three’s a pattern...
