"Le Toast Anglo-Français au Pizza", to give it its proper name... the original inventor's brother-in-law, an apple grower from Kent, who later travelled to Aomori on an apple-related junket and who, on realising he'd forgotten to bring a present for his hosts, key players in the Tohoku apple pie industry, fortuitously discovered the recipe and handed it over as a gift.
