Although I have been back in UK for 6 years now, I still haven't unpacked all my boxes...had a rummage at the weekend and found THE crappest book EVER!

Jesus Christ. Imagine if that was the first text you tried to learn how to read and write Japanese with. Please tell me you didn't actually use that, SG.

The pictographer does seem to have an anal fetish, as a lot of the figures seem to have their asses stuck in the air expecting something to pass their way.

sillygirl, that brings back some memories. This book has been sitting on omae mona Jr.'s bookshelf for a few years because even the kid found it ridiculous and funny. I bought this years ago, and it stayed in my Japanese study library for all of about 2 days before I decided it was worthless.

However, there's one image from this book which I can't forget, even to this day. Perhaps because it is so closely linked to memories of my early years spent drinking too much in Roppongi.

Man, my parents gave me that book as a Christmas present way back when I was first thinking about coming to Japan (would have been close to 20 years ago). Said 'thanks', flipped through it a couple of times, couldn't believe how crappy it was, and shelved it.

Went back home for a visit this summer and it was still there.
I have a blog. Last update: August 18, 2013.

Were you studying English or Japanese?

I have this book and I found it to be very entertaining. Well put together. I flip through it once in a while.
