Do you mean they as in lounge singers in general or that person said he or she makes that much?

Someone told me that they made that much and that pretty much any bands/singers that do all of the lounge cover stuff can make lots.
Not looking to pick up an extra job, but I know someone who it would be very suited for.

Chika,
I smell a touch of the old Easy Money in Japan myth ( ), but it could be worth looking into if your friend is both good and serious. But I would bet on more like 80,000 a night for a night or 2 a week at the most, at least until they get known and reviewed. I'm just working off the top of my head but that sounds much more reasonable. FYI, I know lots of models that make 200,000 a shoot..........but they only work once every 2 or 3 months. Anyways, ...........................

I have no idea what they charge but considering the lifestyle he and his family live they must be making pretty good money. Good enough to live full-time in one of those hotels and send their kid to international school. Of course I don't know what other sources of income they have if any so maybe it's not as lucrative as it seems.

I'm pretty sure the full time hotel life is a two faced comedy:
If you have to pay for it it's an incredible sum of money.
But for the hotel giving it away, it's just the cost of few toothbrush and clean bedsheets.
Sure, mif you want to go full bean counter retard you bill it as a loss at the full no discount retail price. But for most cases, it's like for trains... One more passenger don't change anything...

Stands to reason that the person booking 20 or 30 badly paid bands would be making more than any one band, especially if he takes a piece of the gate or kickbacks from the bands. There simply cannot be a shortage of Western cover bands willing to be Big in Japan. Think Marky Mark without the lucky break.
I still find it weird that people think living in a hotel is attractive, especially with kids. Talk about high potential for nightmarish brats.Mommy, I wanna grilled cheese samwitch!!!!!!!!!!

Yeeks.
Cyka UchuuJin wrote:as someone who spends 70+ nights per year in a hotel, i can definitely say that hotel living is not attractive. at least not to me. and certainly not in japan, where no less than 4 people say hello/have a good day every time you walk through the lobby and there is no chance ever of just being able to throw on a pair of trackies just to nip out for an evening walk. room service menus never change and there is just so many times you can have a club sandwich with all the pomp and circumstance that comes with it as the guy insists on taking 5 bajillion hours to set the table and arrange your food and condiments while you stand there like an asshole. and even if you do put on the 'do not disturb' because you want to spend your sunday sleeping off a hangover, they'll still call you to ask when you want your room cleaned.

Do you find the walls too thin as well? It seems there is always sound carrying through the walls and floors of people partying or kids going nuts. Makes it awfully hard to either have fun in your own room without disturbing others, or just relax peacefully without hearing some cacophony nearby.
Samurai_Jerk wrote:Living in a hotel has never seemed particularly attractive to me but there's a difference between staying in a 5* hotel suite in one place full time and being on the road sleeping in hotels that are within the company budget. Also, these guys are based in SE Asia where eating out costs nothing so even if you have a nice house with a full kitchen there's little incentive to cook except when you have a craving for a comfort food from back home that you can't buy at a restaurant. Anyway, worse than living in a hotel is growing up in the international school system. I've never met anyone who did that turned out well adjusted.

However, recently I was in Singapore at the W and had been upgraded to an amazing suite that had it's own swimming pool. That was when the germanwings crash happened, and it made me very sad to be in such a beautiful room all on my own. it actually made me reassess life/job and i'm making this my last year on the road like this.

Personally I prefer the McGuyver aproach... An old matress some underwear catalog and a trusty right hand...
