Tokyo Ekiben Convention

If you like ekiben (bento lunchboxes sold at railway stations) but don't have time to travel, then pop down to Nakanobu shopping street in Shinagawa ward on February 10th where they'll be holding their annual ekiben taikai. Members of the local shopkeepers association travel to get fresh bento or have them sent in from stations around the country on the day of the event. Popular last year were offerings from Odawara Station in Kanagawa and Yokokawa Station in Gunma where the kiosk has been in business since 1885 (below).
