Obama Jellyfish Space Caramel

Students at the Fisheries High School in Obama, Fukui-ken have developed a new caramel candy made (in part at least) from the giant Nomura's jellyfish that have recently been swarming around the west coast. The students have sent in a request to JAXA to have the candies added to the menu for astronauts on the International Space Station. So far officials are giving the proposal consideration, going as far as sending a representative to the school to evaluate the candy.

The students have been cooking with jellyfish for about three years since the school developed a way to process the jellyfish into an edible powder.

Not conclusive, I agree, but I think the commenter who said "...I think if there were jellyfish this big they would be as well known as Great White sharks and giant squids. At the very least, Steven Spielberg would have made a horror movie about them by now" nailed it on the head. The giant, soft, squishy head.

Yeah, I've heard the actual Nelson's jellyfish are about 2 meters across. Pretty big, but nowhere near the size of the one in the photo. No idea if it's a photoshop or not, I just copied it from the blog.
