Nah, it's really about J-Inc scam. “Mountain Day” is another just another corporate excuse for layoffs and to save money since more than 40% of Japan’s workers are on “part-time” and subcontracts, all holidays are unpaid. All these so-called holidays mean for the ever-growing numbers of poor office "temps" is yet another day without pay. Basically, it’s a 20-30% pay cut in the month due to all the holidays since Japanese workers expected to make up for any lost work with unpaid service zangyo.
Japan’s parliament is expected to pass legislation this week to establish a 16th national holiday: Mountain Day. JRT caught up with Seishiro Eto, a lawmaker with the ruling Liberal Democratic Party who has lead a multi-party initiative to make Mountain Day a reality. The politician, who has fond memories of playing in the mountains as a child on the southwestern island of Kyushu, discusses why Japan’s mountains should be cherished and how the new holiday day could even help China-Japan relations...
Whaaaa ....!!??how the new holiday day could even help China-Japan relations

That makes the wood improves athletic performance claim look down right scientifical.

Now you are just being facetious. That would never lead to political leaders bungee jumping together.
I personally feel that the colour yellow is misrepresented. We have Green Day...
Time for some yellow bungee cords!

People like to call Kim Jong-un crazy but I'm sure he doesn't actually believe his own bullshit. These fuckwits on the other hand ....
Until recently, Japan had essentially been a country of farmers; in contrast, the peoples of Europe and the United States were hunters.
Because Japanese international competitive power is weaker, it is important to preserve the agricultural industry.

For such a well traveled guy...WTF??
Even if you ignore the obviously ignorant Oubei barbarian hunter bullshit ...Japan can't compete with recently turned farmer, hunter gatherers, because of low productivity and lack of competition?? Wha???

Yeah, I've heard that Western hunter argument for cultural differences a number of times over the years. Does anyone know the origin of that little piece of nihonjinron?

Probably the same as most fucked Engrish, ignorant J-fuck "expert" that's been to the US once, thinks there is too much meat in the food offerings, says something back in J-land and it gets picked up in the media.
I wonder if it's only directed at white people (the oubei bullshit) because us injuns have been farming corn, fruit, etc. for centuries before white people showed up...to claim land for farming

That's what I mean...seems like they just mean white people and ignored all the pre-colonial agriculture in the Americas.

That wouldn't really be relevant to the discussion since they're talking about European culture not pre-Columbian. Anyway, my point was that there's been agriculture in Europe for thousands of years whereas you seemed to be limiting it to just the US.
