The evolution of McDonald’s Japan into a health-conscious restaurant doesn’t stop with last month’s introduction of tofu nuggets. Now the burger chain has prohibited smoking in all of its outlets in the country.
“Our customers range from young children to elderly people. We aspire to create an environment where all of our customers can enjoy their meals,” a spokeswoman for the chain, formally known as McDonald’s Holdings Co. (Japan) Ltd., said Monday.
The company said its transition into a smoke-free chain had been in the works for years but was completed on Aug. 1.
