I've only tried it a couple of times but what I've had has been too sweet for my taste. Plus there's also the the psychological effect that associating it will Renaissance festival types has on my ability to enjoy it.

Tokyo, Japan
What you’re drinking: Yo-Ho Tokyo Black Porter
In a culture that appreciates beer as much as Japan, it’s not surprising that Tokyo is host to one of the most respected craft beer spots in Asia. The beer menu may feel like it’s over the top (and the website looks like something straight out of 1997), but its 70 tap lines veer through Japan’s impressive brewing landscape including Hitachino and Ise Kadoya, while still saving room for American and European guest stars. The menu of simple but memorable Japanese fare doesn’t hurt matters, either.

From what they let you see before the paywall shutter drops, yep.

Most likely just a tax grab but it'd be nice if it encouraged more of a real beer culture in Japan.

You mean pretending to be sophisticated while you drink over priced, overly hoppy swill with a vaguely German sounding name and a fruity aftertaste?

I think you're confusing me with someone else. I may be a homo but I'm no beer homo. That reminds me. If you're here next summer, you should check out Mori no Beer Garden. It's in the park near Shinanomach Station. All-you-can-drink ice-cold Budweiser.
