Japan's Softbank to take bets on horseracing via Internet

Softbank said it would become Japan's first Internet group to take bets on horseracing, starting with races in a rural region, in a move to diversify its online business.
Softbank Corp. said from April next year it would take bets via the Internet on races at two courses in Iwate prefecture, some 400 kilometers (250 miles) north of Tokyo...more...

Two to one this dog don't hunt. First, they have made a major error that has been made before. They have interpreted the law wrong. The law does not allow for private companies outside of the government to offer gambling as they so state in the article. Secondly, the criminal statutes still hold any gambling in Japan as illegal and only government gambling to include the lottery are so allowed, because each has a separate law exempting them from the criminal code.

Sorry about that Softbank and Iwate! The same thing happened to Blinky's casinos.
