'Fainting game' back once more
An adolescent "game" popular in many countries, at many times, has resurfaced in Japan with dangerous consequences. The latest craze with the kids is called the "shisshin game," or fainting game. In this incarnation, one kid presses hard on another's chest, an action that cuts the blood supply to the brain, and the kid passes out.
A 12-year-old boy in Fukushima Prefecture collapsed and died during his physical education class. His parents sued the city, claiming that "a classmate strangled him in a shisshin game session."
