Mainichi: Bus plows into pedestrians on sidewalk at Ikebukuro Station
A bus ran onto a sidewalk at Ikebukuro Station in downtown Tokyo on Friday afternoon, slightly injuring three pedestrians, police said. At around 12:55 p.m., an out-of-service bus operated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's Transportation Bureau ran onto a sidewalk in front of JR Ikebukuro Station in Toshima-ku, and hit three pedestrians before coming to a halt, local police said. The three victims, including two 13-year-old junior high school girls, were slightly injured in the accident, according to investigators. The bus skidded on the road before running onto the sidewalk, according to Transportation Bureau officials. Tokyo police are questioning the 36-year-old driver of the bus over the cause of the accident.
