[floatr]Image[/floatr]The Asahi reports (Japanese) that a yakiniku restaurant in Nagoya owned by comedian Kenji Tamura has been ordered to suspend trading following a serious food poisoning incident earlier this month. The four diners, aged between 18 and 21, ordered raw liver and raw beef (yukke) but developed fevers and diarrhoea which were later diagnosed as symptoms of campylobacteriosis. One of the four was hospitalized overnight. Tamura started the business a little over two years ago and owns four yakiniku restaurants which all closed following the city's order. His willingness to promote them during his appearances itself became part of his act and the restaurant featured on a number of variety programmes. At a press conference arranged by his agency, Yoshimoto Kogyo, Tamura apologized for for the trouble, saying that he had thought sufficient measures were in place to guarantee food hygiene but had clearly not paid them enough attention. The press conference lasted 30 minutes and there were no indications that his agency planned to cancel any public appearances as a result of the incident.
