Todai Academic Year Change

It seems University of Tokyo has decided to change to a Fall - Summer academic term to bring it inline with Europe and the US. They say that at the earliest the change will happen in 5 years. I wonder how that will affect job hunting for their students.

5 years? dayam...but I guess this is still some progress (albeit delayed) in the right direction.

you figure that they would have done this when they had a lot of students studying abroad... but now they do it when everyone just studies in Japan...

in the right direction, timing a bit off, but nonetheless... almost getting there.

Maybe...but I think the need for students is the driving force behind this. Uni's seem to be hurting for students now and it will definitely get worse if they don't open their doors to more foreign students.

Depending on where those students come from this may or may not a be a plus for them.

They couldn't allow students coming back from abroad to enter at the same level until they ascertained that those countries had four seasons.....
