The theme of 2016’s posters will feature kanji to target the current hoards Chinese tourists and the locals, even though the METRO press release claims that the : "Metro manners posters for 2016 will feature Kanji, which even from a distance transmit messages about train manners—capable of arousing interest of foreign customers! (そんな想いのもと、2016年度のマナーポスターは、遠くからでも一文字で、瞬間的にマナー向上へのメッセージが伝わり、外国人のお客様の興味も喚起できる「漢字」をメインビジュアルとしました。)
