That's a tendency among certain expat men in a lot of countries. It has nothing to with the Japanese/gaijin dynamic.

Not buying it. I can't tell you how many times over the years I've heard FG men say how useless Japanese men are while praising the virtues of Japanese women. And I'm not just talking about sex.

Not anywhere I've lived. I can't comment on what it's like in more inaka areas. On the rare occasion someone does stare it's usually a very young child. The only places I've been where people really stared at me because it was so rare to see a white person were rural Laos and black and Hispanic ghettos in the US. At least in Laos they usually smiled, waved, and said, "Sabaidee!"

Sawatdee? Sabaidee means feeling good/comfortable
or something like that from memory.

They often seem offended to find another gaijin obstructing the scenery in "their special Japan", or something. I don't fully understand the psychology of that one, but it's real.

"What if there were no gaijin?!!" She said the worst part was the one at her local train station actually said "welcome home!" "Gaijin made me feel more welcome than other Japanese!!" Keep in mind this was a cute lil 21yo J-girl...you'd think at least some opportunistic J-guy who wanted her digits would have tried to help, hell, I've gotten digits that way.
