Recycle Center Contacts? Monitors, PCs, Electronics, etc.

Postby GuyJean » Thu May 26, 2005 10:56 am

Cleaning out my classroom and getting rid of things. Does anyone know where I can go to have monitors, PCs, or other electronics 'recycled'.. or disposed of in an environmentally friendly way? Oh.. I'm in Taro's neck of the woods Tama Plaza, Yokohama.

I know the local mega-phone repair guy drives around accepting things like this, but his schedule is random.. And he annoys me. I'd rather call someone to have the items picked up.

I'm throwing out lot's of stuff if anyone's interested:

Apple 17" Display - used to work, not sure now.
Yamaha DX7 Keyboard - used to work, doesn't now. Was told some soldering joints are bad.
VCR - works, simple
15" TV - works, but lame inputs
maps, texbooks, etc..

In my experience the recycle shops that pick up will only give you a pittance, and in some cases will charge to remove items. Convenient though.

Yahoo Auctions is probably the way to make the most $$$ from what you have to sell, but of course is the most time consuming.

This is Excite's page of Used OA-equipment shops:

You might try Hard Off too, http://www.hardoff.co.jp/
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

I think it was someone else on FG who first said, "Well, at least the owner didn't name his first used company 'Book On'!"... Hard Off is bad enough... ;)

I can relate...Have a bunch of stuff I need to get rid of.

The penguin is actually pretty appropriate. Ever been near one? They stink!!
