Electrician recommendations

Postby GomiGirl » Mon Mar 09, 2015 11:15 pm

Tokyo based for some work in Yoyogi.Just minor work inside an apartment - fix a lightswitch, add an earth to an existing socket, add a new socket. Just a few hours worth.

Doesn't need to speak English - just be a qualified electrician.

Yep.

Well, not if you are prepared to accept plastic ducting on the wall. But if the cables must be hidden then, yes, it will take quite lot of work and making good.

Completely agreed.

But GG stated that it would take only a few hours, so I assume that she will be fine with plastic ducting on the wall.

If she wants it hidden, then it really depends on what is behind the walls. If tubing is already in place behind the walls, then it is feasible in most cases to add a ground wire. If not, it may become more difficult, depending on the construction. Adding a socket tends to be easy when there is another socket nearby, for example at the other side of the wall in a different room. If not, it really depends on the access you have behind the walls (which in most cases is bad).
