Old Makudonarudo had a burger farm, ee-i-ee-i-o

Postby Taro Toporific » Sat Feb 01, 2014 5:24 pm

Old McDonalds had a burger farm, ee-i-ee-i-o.
And on his farm he had kinky kigurumi, ee-i-ee-i-o.

These funny farm folks are Japanese wearing kinky kigurumi costumes of inflated latex rubber by the Japanese artist, “Saeborg.” His inflated masterpiece, "Slaughterhouse 9," (above) has recently won him the lucratively prestigious 17th Taro Okamoto Award for Contemporary Art. Artist's website

Ick, even the official website says Macca's

Still crack up at Aussie reaction to this shit:

if-only-all-restaurant-managers-were-like-this-one-from-outback-steakhouse[1].jpg

(though they do have restaurants in AUS so not everyone hates em there)

Somehow methinks the Japanese attempt to do the same would not be so well received in the US...

Maybe it is a coincidence that they had to use a Kiwi for the commercials for their outback themed restaurant, maybe not.

Hahahahaha, I figured they'd do a Lotte or Burger King approach where most of the population thinks they're domestic

I am never in their catchment but with the number of outlets they have I very much doubt that they advertise on television.

There is no way anyone would think of them as a domestic brand. The fact that they entered into a restaurant competition in Sydney with Tony Roma's, Hard Rock Café, and Hog's Breath Café sort of shows where they both see themselves and where they are seen in the marketplace.

While doing a search to make sure that I wasn't talking more out of my bum than usual, I found this article which I think will be pretty representative of attitudes. But I think you summed them up pretty well with the Cowboy Kazoku example.

So after laughing at these places for so many years, I visited one of these for the first time....it's pretty much the same as the article Wags posted. Salad bar was literally a lettuce and hakusai (strange, even in Japan) salad with various veggies and your choice of Spicy Chinese, Wafu, or Caesar dressing? WTF? Of course you could also opt for rice, pasta and curry  The meatloaf and steak combo wasn't bad but there was no ketchup to be found for the fries...no ketchup at fake American restaurant? That's like no soy sauce at a Japanese restaurant. Dessert was the standard, watery, over sweetened soft cream with corn flakes and flan? But...they did have really old American music that I bet only Greji could call. Anyhow, the slutty/flirty all girl staff in western clothes and cowboy hats were fun enough to mess with and it's basically a wacky themed Denny's. Wouldn't mind going there again but definitely an odd one...
