I read about three grafs before giving up in disgust. But this alleged "novel" is notable in one regard, the writing is even worse than Cory Doctorow's. I guess crap-artists take care of each other.

I blame William Gibson for this Sci-Fi orientalism and Japan fetish. Now every SF hack has to take a crack at Japan. Even my favorite cyberpunk writer, Rudy Rucker, wrote a huge article about Japan, which consisted almost entire of his whining about his sudden toothache. Worst crap he ever wrote.
