I am forced to believe that the other article 'segragation live and well in Japan' being on the same page must be serendipity.

They go so hand in hand.
The reason Japanese girls go for such corny reassuring lines promising support is because sexual segregation is soooooo terrible in Japan.

I hate to say it but I've already have forgotten the "world's funniest joke" so it would work.

Two hunters are out in the woods when one of them collapses. He doesn't seem to be breathing and his eyes are glazed. The other guy takes out his phone and calls the emergency services.

That "ultimate pickup line" is linguistically called "future-pacing". It works in sales as well. All you need to do is talk to your prospect in such a way that makes them feel good about having bought from you, by having them imagine having a wonderful future after the sale.
(Of course, the prospect falls in love with the future imagery, but the real future is usually much different!)

So think about this.... how suprised would you be to find yourself really enjoying spending time with me? Up to the point where you can... picture us over coffee, laughing and having the best time? Isn't that something that you'd look back on, years from now, and get really excited over?

Even if the Japanese pickup line becomes well known, the theory behind it can be reused anyway.
