Korean singer Kim Jang-hoon placed this advertisement for the cup in the April 26 edition of the Wall Street Journal to promote Korean claims.

Competitors taking part in the 2011 Korea Cup International Yacht Race have now set off from Pohang in Gyeongbuk Province and will round the disputed island of Takeshima/Dokdo as part of the course. It's the fourth time the international regatta has been held and the field includes a total of 69 small to mid-sized keelboats and 350 sailors from 20 countries, including Russia, the US, Canada and the Philippines. The Mayor of Pohang said: "Through this race, we hope to encourage the public to pay more attention to the Dokdo islets and let the world know that Dokdo belongs to Korea, as well as to nurture Pohang as a mecca of marine sports." A Korean newspaper quoted Bernard Florean, Philippines coach, saying "I feel good also for Koreans, especially when I go to Dokdo Island. It is a very nice place".

I'd like to see Japan line kaijoujietai gunships in a "dotting the T" formation and lay mass salvous onto these sometime sailors when they try to make the turn onto the downwind leg at Takeshima/Dokdo.
