Go Socceroos!

Postby Mike Oxlong » Tue Jun 04, 2013 6:47 pm

Beat the insufferable J-jocks in the World Cup qualifier tonight. That'll make water cooler chats so much more bearable tomorrow...

Not sure... i only got 2 cats hanging out near the watering hole, they are usually pretty cool as far as conversation goes...

+1

No watercooler, but TV will be unwatchable for several days if the wrong team wins (not that it's particularly watchable at other times).

Still 0-0.

You got me to switch on the telly just in time to see the equalizer.

Judging by the reporting on NHK news, it was a major victory for Japan.

OK, so it's looking like Japan has won the World Cup already.

Fuck! Actually, a 1-1 result was a superb achievement by the 'Roos. Japan are a higher class of team, playing at home in a tough stadium.
I would have loved the Socceroos to have won just to have shoved a metaphorical fist down the throat of the fucken awful TV commentators.
But it was a brilliant match, just the latest between two teams that are building an amazing rivalry. But Japan should pull ahead from now on...Hard to be angry despite the stoppage time equalizer.

Oh OK. I thought they didn't have World Cups in odd-numbered years?

Japan is a fucken good team. Of course, they can't win it because that honor (essentially) goes to only a couple of South American cuntries, Italy or Germany (if on penalties), but I reckon they've got a decent chance at a semi-final place, especially if they can play their early round games in places with a big Nikkei population, which I'm sure sponsors will find the Brazilian organizers have a yen for arranging. (Which is still better than South Korea blatantly paying for its semifinal place in 2002).

It's for the 2014 World Cup.

Peeing? Oh, I get it, if it doesn't have a puck, then they are all "ball sports."

In some circles, equating soccer with rugby is something you only do when padded up like an ice hockey goalie.
