Yomiuri: Police search home over online movie uploads
The police on Monday searched a man's home in Kawaguchi, Saitama Prefecture, on suspicion he made digital copies of popular movies available for download via file-sharing software, according to sources. The Saitama prefectural police plan to investigate how the man, a 28-year-old corporate employee, allegedly obtained the movies and why he allegedly made them available online using Share file-sharing software. According to investigation sources, the man is suspected to have violated the Copyright Law by making several movies available to an unspecified number of Internet users through Share in July. The movies are alleged to have included "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," the latest installment of the popular movie series, which is playing in cinemas now.
