I just got a new winPC and want to continue using my external HD to transfer files from my old computer (mac)
I can do this with my older winpc and linux, too, but not with the new one.
The external usb HD shows up under divice/printers but cant be opened.
any ideas?

What format is the hard drive? If it's Fat32, both can read it. If it's in NTFS (Windows) or HFS (OS X), you'll need a extra app on the non-native system to read/write to the drive.
"MacDrive" for Windows and "NTFS for Mac OS X" are two that I know of.

FAT. previously is was showing up on all computers, mac, win xp and linux. but not the new win7pc i just got.
