Possibly why some Anime and Manga are so dark

As many of us have heard, many manga artists and animators were influenced by Western comics and cartoons. Well, judging from this, I think I know where they also got ideas for some of the more horrifying and bizarre stuff that's been created.http://www.cracked.com/article_22602_8-horrifying-moments-from-classic-kids-cartoons.html

Maybe so. Still, while I knew the Japanese have made some really bizarre anime, it was a bit of a surprise to find Western stuff, primarily in the 30's that was sodamned strange. :shock:
